Privacy Policy
Last updated 16 September 2026
Scripture Fountain is a small, independently run project based in Cape Town, South Africa, sharing daily scripture through this app and the @ScriptureFountain channels on YouTube and TikTok. This policy explains what information is collected across those properties, why, and what your choices are. There is no sign-up, login, or account system anywhere in Scripture Fountain — most people can use it without ever sharing any personal information at all.
Information we collect
Scripture Fountain only collects information in these specific situations:
- Contact form. If you use the Contact page, the name, email address, and message you submit are stored so we can read and reply to you. This is the only place the app asks you for personal information directly.
- Donations. If you choose to support the project on the Support page, donations are processed entirely by PayPal. We receive confirmation that a donation was made and its amount — we never see or store your card, bank, or full PayPal account details.
- Theme preference.Your light/dark mode choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the app remembers it next time. This stays on your device — it is never sent to us or seen by anyone else.
Scripture Fountain does not run advertising, does not use third-party tracking or analytics scripts, does not build user profiles, and does not sell or rent any information to anyone, ever.
How we use this information
- To read and respond to messages sent through the contact form
- To confirm and record donations, and thank donors where appropriate
- To keep the app and its content running reliably and securely
Who we share information with
- Firebase (Google Cloud).Contact form submissions are stored in Firebase, Google's cloud database and hosting platform, under our account.
- PayPal. Donation payments are handled entirely by PayPal under its own privacy policy and terms.
- YouTube and TikTok.If you follow, comment, or interact with Scripture Fountain on those platforms, that activity is governed by YouTube's and TikTok's own privacy policies, not this one.
We do not share information with anyone else, for any other reason.
Google API Services User Data disclosure
Scripture Fountain's video uploader uses the YouTube Data API solely to upload and schedule videos to the @ScriptureFountain YouTube channel that Scripture Fountain itself owns and operates. It does not read, collect, or share data belonging to any other YouTube user, channel, or viewer. Scripture Fountain's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data retention and security
Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable record afterward, and are stored on Firebase's secured infrastructure with access limited to the project operator. You can ask us to delete a submission at any time — see "Your rights" below.
Your rights
As a South African project, Scripture Fountain aims to handle personal information consistently with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Wherever you are — including if you're covered by the EU/UK GDPR or a similar law — you can ask us, through the contact form, to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct information that's inaccurate
- Delete information we hold about you
We'll respond to any such request as quickly as we reasonably can.
Children's privacy
Scripture Fountain is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the only place any information is ever collected is the contact form and donation flow, both used voluntarily.
